Quando se pensa em Curitiba, automaticamente vem à memória aquela estufa de vidro com suas espécies de plantas típicas de áreas tropicais, inspirada no Palácio de Cristal de Londres. Sim, estamos falando de um espaço que fica dentro do JARDIM BOTÂNICO e que se tornou o principal cartão postal da capital paranaense.
Considerado um dos mais belos parques do município, o JARDIM BOTÂNICO possui uma área de 178 mil metros quadrados e é repleto de jardins floridos e outras atrações que vão além da estufa. Bem em frente a ela, por exemplo, há uma fonte d’água e um jardim externo, esse ao estilo francês, com recortes de veredas floridas.
No Botânico é possível conhecer o Jardim das Sensações, uma espécie de trilha composta por variedades da nossa flora, e ter a oportunidade de tocá-las, sentindo ainda as fragrâncias que são exaladas. O projeto é encantador! Todo o percurso é cercado por corrimões e você tem a possibilidade de percorrê-lo com os olhos fechados, aumentando ainda mais as sensações de toque e olfato, o que faz jus ao nome.
Há ainda uma área para exposição e venda de artesanatos, um belo lago com peixes e pequenas tartarugas, e extensos gramados bons para descanso e leitura (ora usados pelas pessoas, antes da pandemia de covid-19, também para piqueniques).
Implantado em 1991, o Jardim Botânico tem acesso livre e foi reaberto há pouco tempo para visitação, depois de longo um período fechado devido ao isolamento social.
O Jardim Botânico está localizado no entroncamento da Avenida Professor Lothario Meissner x Rua Engenheiro Ostoja Roguski, no bairro que leva seu nome.
O parque fica aberto de terça a domingo. No verão, seu horário de funcionamento é das 6h às 20h e no inverno das 6h às 19h30.
O Jardim Botânico está na rota da Linha Turismo (que ainda não está em circulação), mas também é possível chegar ao parque através dos ônibus biarticulados Centenário/Campo Comprido (Sentido Centenário, para quem vem do centro da cidade), e Pinhais/Rui Barbosa (Sentido Pinhais, para quem vem do centro da cidade).
